I am…
– a wife to my one and only & a mom of 3
– a bonus mom to 2 & a mother-in-love to 3
– a 2nd mom & a mentor to many
– an empty-nester & grandma to 4 (2 of them in heaven)
– a missionary and a theologian
– a pastor and a pastor’s wife
– a worship leader, choir director & singer
– a prolific grant-writer-for-hire
– a consultant to churches & nonprofit orgs
– an outspoken warrior against chronic illness
– a self-proclaimed self-care guru
– a voice crying out for social justice in our churches and communities- see Isaiah 58!
– a sinner saved by grace & oh-so-grateful
– REAL: what you see is what you get- I tell it like it is
– old enough to be a Titus 2 woman and doing my best to be a Proverbs 31 wife… even though I have many Psalm 51 days
I am all of these things and more- and at a point in my life where I have too many experiences not to share them. I want to let you in on what I’ve learned– not in the high moments, the accomplishments, the celebrations and accolades– but what I’ve experienced along the journey, in the valley, navigating the rough waters and rocky roads. Through pain, tragedy, grief, illness, divorce, disappointment— and in the sweet moments too when there’s healing, grace, a love that conquers all— I have come to know this truth so intimately: the BEAUTY is in the BETWEEN.
God’s presence is most tangible, His love most restorative, His Spirit most comforting, and His grace most welcome when we are struggling with anxiety, shame or depression; when we can’t let go of deep heart-wounds; when we cry out to Him and He, in His mercy, comes running to us in extravagant love and forgiveness like the father to his prodigal son.
So stay tuned, my dear friends. This blog will undoubtedly be another exercise of experiencing the beauty in the between. I plan to share my journey with you– in the form of memories, revelations, recipes, photos and more. I’d love it if you would share your journey with me too by clicking on the Let’s Talk tab. Also go there if you’d like to ask me about anything or if you’d like to start a conversation– just please be kind.
In the meantime, remember to live justly, love mercy, and walk humbly.
